Whats in the Bag: My October Golden Tote Reveal

I have always been a huge fan of grab bags. The first memories I have of enjoying shopping were going with my mom to the mall and she would let me go to the Happiness Is... store. Which was were you could purchase anything your little heart desired of the Hello Kitty brand products or similar products. My favorite was Keroppi the big eyed frog, later maturing on to the cute duck in a sweater Pekkle. Pencil cases with hidden eraser compartments; rock candy and little plastic covered notebook, swoon... It just hit me where i get my love for office supplies. Anyways back on track; at the front counter was a basket full of Grab Bags (blue paper bags with little images of pochacco, kerroppi, hello kitty, etc. in front of geometric shapes in bright colors)  in the options of $5, $10, and $15. Depending on how much disposable income she had in her magical wallet full of plastic I could choose one. She hated that she was throwing her money way on random erasers and not so sticky stickers. But I couldn't get enough of the surprise aspect. I was hooked and I still get a little pitter pater of my heart just thinking of those paper bags stapled shut.

Fast forward 24 years later and I can now get the same feeling all on my own! Squeal! But in better forms of satisfaction : CLOTHES!!!! Every girl loves clothes I don't care if its your favorite T-shirt, or your favorite pair of work out pants... You love clothes. Luckily enough there are now so many options to buy clothes; especially online!!!!!  Stitch fix, Daily look, etc. Ive tried stitch fix, and daily look, but to my disapointment, none of the clothes fit right and the style was always off somehow. The Clothes I did like were also always seemed to be just a little to expensive for my blood for the quality of the garment. But Alas I Found my holy grail... Golden Tote! Its a wonderful website where I get to choose one to two (or three if I cant live without something) items from a list (with pictures), that I know I already want and they surprise me things that they choose; based on my style profile I put together. GRAB BAG STATUS. My heart sings and I get the rush of getting a gift that I know I will love when I open the box. Plus I get a new tote bag. Plus surprises! Its a Win Win Win situation. No one ever has enough tote bags.  

Sadly over the years I have noticed my effort and skill at the "shopping" have gone missing and I try and wish all the time that my "style" or "eye" would return to me so I can be proud of my purchases. It never fails, I go out to find the perfect ________ and end up with another white tank top or black t shirt... shopping fail. So the online shopping for me website help me get a new perspective on clothes. I have ordered one golden tote before. It was a couple springs ago and what I loved about the service was that it gave me things I normally wouldn't of bought for myself if I was out shopping on my own plus I knew for sure there would be something that I would pick.

So before I opened my first bag from them last time I made myself promise to try on every item of clothing before deciding if you were into it or not. So I will continue this practice... 

  

So without further ado here is my October Golden Tote; Sorry the photo quality is subpar, and I was in the middle of cleaning the bathroom, so please don't mind that too much; we just got married our house is in shambles. Also I have to open and put the clothes away before my husband realized I went "shopping" ;)... jk jk, but he takes the cameras to work, so I have to use my phone and the bathroom has the mirror. So your stuck looking at horrible shots of my bathroom through my iPhone. Enjoy:

So here is the cute bag that everything comes in:

 This was the first shirt I opened. I would never of bought this shirt if I was to go out on my own. But I love it. I cant wait for the California fall to actually get here so i have a chance.

Second Item to come out of the bag was: This comfy green and black downy dress. It is definitely in my wheel house in the color selection. But again I wouldn't pick it on my own. I love it. Cant wait to put some tights on and a belt and wear it out

The third item out of the bag was one of the pieces I selected: This Floral Shirt was something out of my comfort zone. I had to have it.

Item Four: This Cardigan Sweater is something I would walk by in the store... The pattern isn't something I would gravitate towards. But once I Put it on with a black tank, it turned out to be just the right amount of noise. 

Item Five: This was the second item I picked to be in the bag. It is so cute and just girly enough for me... In the past i used to run from floral prints, but I'm trying. It'll be so great with some tights and coat.

Item Number Six: My First thought was; "No... Oh well, six out of seven ain't bad. I'll find someone who will want it" But following my rule of trying everything on in the bags I did... Surprisingly I dont hate it, it makes me feel and look super wide, but I'm working on that, and with a belt it might work... Also,  seeing as how I wasn't blessed with a swan like neck; or much of a chin;  I've never been a fan of turtle neck type things, but this loose neck is something I can get behind.

The last and final piece of my bag: This was my add on piece for this months bag. All of my girlfriends have the cutest flannel plaid shirts. I haven't been able to find one thats flattering on me since I have a larger chest. Every shirt i have tried on tends to be too boxy for me to feel good in it. So, I was so so so HAPPY to see this as an option for an item. Love it. It is the same look but more feminine for someone who cant do boy-ish wear and still look cute and feminine. 

So I can Officially call Golden tote two for two... Thank you Golden tote for giving me the gift of new clothes and fashion sense without having me go out and get them! I appreciate you and love you.
